In South Africa, LADIES FIRST focuses on supporting refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and other vulnerable community members through education, skills development, social support, and human rights advocacy.
We provide vocational and technical training programmes designed to improve employability, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Our courses include English language training, computer literacy, hospitality, beauty therapy, nail technology, website development, graphic design, and other practical skills.
We also advocate for the rights, dignity, and protection of vulnerable individuals facing discrimination, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly lesbian women who may experience social exclusion, forced marriage, violence, or discrimination because of their identity or gender expression.
Our work in South Africa promotes:
- Refugee and asylum seeker support
- Skills development and vocational training
- Community empowerment
- Human rights advocacy
- Social inclusion
- Protection against discrimination
- Economic empowerment
