In Burundi, LADIES FIRST focuses on food security, sustainable agriculture, women’s land rights, social relief assistance, and hunger reduction initiatives.
Recognizing that food security is essential for community development, we support women farmers through agricultural training, access to farming resources, land rights awareness, and sustainable farming practices. We also implement community-based food production systems designed to strengthen local supply chains and improve access to nutritious food.
A significant part of our work supports vulnerable women and children affected by conflict in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly in the Minembwe region. Through agricultural production and food distribution initiatives, we help provide emergency food assistance while building long-term food resilience.
Our work in Burundi promotes:
- Food security and nutrition
- Sustainable agriculture
- Women’s land and inheritance rights
- Supply chain resilience
- Community empowerment
- Social relief assistance
- Protection of vulnerable women and children
